It's usually caused by playing in touchscreen mode (which you are) when you don't have a touchscreen (which I have no clue whether or not you do). I do not have a touchscreen, however I forgot to mention that the game has crashed regardless of whether or not I am in touchscreen mode.

Unfortunately my Event Log does not go back far enough to give an example. But, I have tried some of the fixes from totalex's links, so if it works I will come back and say 'yay it's fixed, thank you!' Or if not, then I will have a report from the Event viewer of it crashing outside of touchscreen mode. Yay, it's fixed, thank you! I just finished a Marathon-length game with no crashes! It was about 8 hours long, over a couple sessions, and went to about 1,400 turns. So I think my Civ5 good for now!

Here's what I did, based on the first link from totalex: - I doublechecked that DirectX did not have any updates, and it did not - I updated my graphics drivers - I found the files that were crashing in the error reports (two of the.exe files, Tablet and DX11), went into their Properties and unchecked the 'Read-only' tick box under Attributes.

Solution: • Get a capture using Process Monitor while reproducing the error message. (See.) • Search the Process Monitor log for 'ACCESS DENIED' to determine which file is causing the error.

• Navigate to that file in Windows Explorer / File Explorer. • Right-click the file and select Properties. • Click the Security tab. • You may see the message 'You must have Read permissions to view the properties of this object.'

This is a onetime operation and will only be necessary for a new or revised menu. Note: On all versions of AutoCAD 2006 through 2008 including LT, ADT and ACA, a Customize User Interface (.CUI) file will be created instead of the three files described above. These three additional files will be placed in the folder that you copied into local drive C.

Regardless of whether that message appears or not, click the Advanced button. • Click Add and enter the username for the problematic user account. (You could also enter the name of a group that the problematic account belongs to, like Administrators or Everyone.) • Check the box next to 'Full control' and click OK. • Try running the Autodesk product that was giving the error. • There may be multiple files with permissions issues, so if you still get the same error message you will need to repeat steps 1-9 until the error goes away.
