Changelog - November 2010 I don't feel that I gave proper credit to those that made suggestions last time, so from now on, I'll give credit at the beginning of the changelog. Like I did last month, these are my favorite programs added this month. - Like a few programs available for mobile phones, Midomi is a free web-based service which can help you identify songs by humming them. Requires flash player. - An excellent program for customizing the appearance of Windows. You can install one of several 'packs', available from the website, which can customize visual themes, icons, backgrounds, fonts, cursors, sounds, logon screen, etc. - A pretty powerful typing tutor program which saves detailed statistics on your typing speed, and you can generate lessons based on these statistics.
- This installs a plugin into your browser which lets you download and launch several popular programs from your web browser. The programs are sandboxed and do not require installation. A few programs include VLC, Notepad++, Picasa, and Irfanview. - This Firefox Add-on forces encrypted HTTPS connections to several popular websites such as Facebook and Google. You can add your own by writing simple XML definition files. You can also find several more definition files.
This Registry script can be used in Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows. Download Registry Script File to Make Windows Faster. On Internet' prompt in 'Open with' window so that you can directly see available programs list.
I decided to add this to the list after reading about the add-on. - In conjunction with HTTPS Everywhere, this Firefox Add-on adds a toolbar button which rates the quality of the SSL connection based on several factors. It's color coded with green being the strongest and red being a partially encrypted connection.
Some people may not like this because the toolbar button does not fit well with many themes. Changelog - December 2010 Credit to: Copernic for finding PotPlayer - hayc59 for finding Outpost Security Suite Free - Chester0 for finding NetSpeedMonitor - Highlights::star: - A very impressive freeware for managing archives. Changelog - January 2011 Highlights: • Requires Registration - A handy program for performing calculations related to loans, mortgage, investments, etc.
Requires free registration. • - An encrypted, anonymous, decentralized chat client utilizing the Tor network. The program itself has very few features, but it's the anonymous chat that caught my attention. • - Highlight text in any program and click the tray icon to manipulate it. Change case, sort, remove underscores, etc. Changelog - February 2011 Credit to: • Ahoihoi was posted by the author here - • Drag & Drop Renamer was posted by the author here - • Speckie was posted by the author here - Highlights: • - This program simulates many features of Mac OS, including Quicklook, Spaces, Active Corners, and more.
The free version disables skins and plug-ins. • - This program replaces your desktop wallpaper with simple flash animations. Some are interactive as well. • Web-Based - A simple but fun web-based game. Move all of the points so none of the lines overlap. • - Freeware for managing Photoshop brushes (.abr) • - Forcibly reboots your PC in an instant. This could be used as a last resort if your system becomes unstable.
