I may not have the terminology correct but he and his friends called the kid a “booter” who can launch some kind of DDoS/Stresser attack once they get your IP address. The kid did it in seconds. I've not heard of this before but apparently it occurs a lot in the gaming community and has happened to several of my son's friends where their internet connection was shut down for a day or even a week. How can this be avoided in the future? Settings in the modem? How concerned should I be and should I call my ISP provider who I just started with 3 days ago?
