She went to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where she became a Kappa Kappa Gamma and received her baccalaureate in Home Economics. In 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, Bob Nevill (former spouse), and completed her Masters in Special Education at Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX.
